RedHawks Have Impressive Day at Hoosier Horsepower Classic

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.-- The Miami indoor team traveled to the Indiana State Fairgrounds this weekend to compete in the Hoosier Horsepower Classic. Abby Suszek led the way for the RedHawks as she finished in first place in the women's 400-meter run.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Suszek finished in first place in the women's 400-meter event with a time of 54.62 seconds. Not only is this time a PR for Suszek, but it puts her in second place in RedHawk history for the 400-meter. Lucca Agate also ran in the women's 400-meter, and she finished in fifth place with a time of 56.58 seconds. In the women's 60-meter dash prelims, Ella Scally qualified for the finals by finishing in fifth place with a time of 7.68 seconds, a personal-best. In the finals of the 60-meter dash, Scally finished in sixth place with a time of 7.67 seconds, once again setting a new PR. These times also put Scally in the record books as she is now tied for sixth in Miami history. In the women's 600-meter event, Avery Emerson was the highest-placing RedHawk, finishing in third place with a time of 1:36.54. Eve Traficanti (1:37.62) and Rachel Smith (1:41.29) were right behind Emerson as they finished in sixth and ninth place, respectively. Smith set a new PR in the event, beating her previous time by 1.71 seconds. The women's 4x400-meter team of Smith, Traficanti, Emerson, and Erin Connors finished in fourth place with a time of 3:56.80.Â
- On the field for the women, Elle Miller finished in ninth place in the women's high jump event with 1.54 meters. Emily Eterovich finished 10th in the women's pole vault event with 3.56 meters. Scally also finished in 10th place in the women's long jump event with 5.56 meters. In the women's shot put event, Santornya Ralliford finished in eighth place with 13.37 meters.
- In the 3,000-meter event, Annie Christie was the highest placing Miami runner, claiming third place with a time of 9:39.88.
- In the men's 600-meter event, freshman Dominic Jackson finished in first place with a time of 1:20.09. Joey Valeski finished in third place in the men's 400-meter event with a time of 48.74 seconds. The men's 4x400-meter team of Jaxson Tober, Jackson, Valeski, and Jack Fleming finished in seventh place with a time of 3:25.65
- On the field for the men, Henry Hoblitzell finished in fifth place in the men's pole vault event with 4.66 meters. In the men's high jump event, Nate Hollingsworth finished in seventh place with 1.94 meters. Logan Vowles also competed in the men's high jump event, and he finished in 10th place with 1.89 meters. Ben Riegel finished in seventh place in the men's shot put event with 15.96Â meters. Unattached freshman Kirk Knecht finished in 10th place in the men's long jump event with 5.89 meters.
