Miami Starts Strong After Day One of Purdue Fall Invitational

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — The Miami University golf team is in second place out of 15 teams after day one of the Purdue Fall Invitational with a score of nine under par (567) as a team. Michael Weber leads the RedHawks with a score of 138, or six under par.

The third and final round of the tournament will tee off on Monday, Sept. 23.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Weber (72-66–138) is in second place overall after two rounds. He scored three birdies in a row on the 15th, 16th and 17th hole of the first round. Weber added eight birdies in the second round.
- Morgan Blythe (72-70–142) is tied for fourth with an overall score of two under par, or 142. He shot three consecutive birdies on holes six through eight in round two.
- Brett Podobinski (68-75–143) shot an eagle on the fourth hole of the first round. He is currently tied for 11th out of 85 players.
- Cameron Pero (71-73–144) collected five birdies in his first round and three birdies in his second round, ending the day tied for 15th.
- Liam Nelson (80-78–158) shot two birdies overall and is tied for 66th place.
- Miami's team score for the first two rounds was 567. They are ahead of the host team Purdue by 14 strokes and behind first-place Indiana by two strokes.
