Miami Starts Strong After Day One of Purdue Fall Invitational

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — The Miami University golf team is in second place out of 15 teams after day one of the Purdue Fall Invitational with a score of nine under par (567) as a team. Michael Weber leads the RedHawks with a score of 138, or six under par.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

Weber (72-66–138) is in second place overall after two rounds. He scored three birdies in a row on the 15th, 16th and 17th hole of the first round. Weber added eight birdies in the second round.
Morgan Blythe (72-70–142) is tied for fourth with an overall score of two under par, or 142. He shot three consecutive birdies on holes six through eight in round two.
Brett Podobinski (68-75–143) shot an eagle on the fourth hole of the first round. He is currently tied for 11th out of 85 players.
Cameron Pero (71-73–144) collected five birdies in his first round and three birdies in his second round, ending the day tied for 15th.
Liam Nelson (80-78–158) shot two birdies overall and is tied for 66th place.
Miami's team score for the first two rounds was 567. They are ahead of the host team Purdue by 14 strokes and behind first-place Indiana by two strokes.
