
Miami Drops to Northern Kentucky in Three Sets

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. — The Miami University volleyball team (6-5) dropped a three-set match (25-21, 25-21, 25-14) to Northern Kentucky (4-7) on Saturday evening to close out the Groen Family McDonald's Invitational (hosted by Northern Kentucky).

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Ana Vetter opened the first set with a pair of service aces to give Miami a 5-4 lead. Gentry Warrick and Chelsea Williams each knocked down a kill to keep the RedHawks ahead 16-13. Miami trailed 22-17 after the Norse responded with a 9-1 run. Northern Kentucky went on to claim the first set 25-21.
- Ava Francis put down a kill to even the second set at eight apiece. The score remained tied at 12-12 thanks to a Sophie Crawford service ace. Crawford and Warrick combined for a block as the end of the set approached to stay within two points at 21-19. The Norse were able to fend off the offensive push from the Red and White, taking the second set 25-21.
- A kill from Caroline Cermack kept Miami in striking distance at 6-4 in the third set. The Norse were able to extend their lead to 12-5 as the middle of the set approached. Vetter and Lydia Michelin recorded numerous kills late in the set. Despite a strong effort, the RedHawks dropped the final set 25-14.

- Warrick led all players with five blocks.
