PISCATAWAY, NJ – On Sunday afternoon No. 11 Rutgers University took down the Miami University field hockey team 6-1. The Scarlet Knights improve to 3-2 and the RedHawks drop to 3-3.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Just under five minutes into the first quarter, Rutgers jumped out in front with a quick goal to put them ahead of the RedHawks 1-0.
- About five minutes later the Knights doubled their lead, making it a 2-0 game, which they held through the end of the first quarter.
- Just two and a half minutes into the second quarter, Henriette Schlueter scored to cut the Knights' lead in half 2-1. She was assisted by Paula Navarro.
- Rutgers held their 2-1 lead through the end of the first half.
- Halfway through the third quarter, the Knights scored twice to push their advantage to 4-1 over the Red and White, which they held through the end of the third.
- Four minutes into the final quarter, Rutgers put another ball in goal, making it a 5-1 score.
- With just over two minutes remaining the Knights put up one more goal to make it a 6-1 final.
