Miami Suffers First Loss at Indiana State

TERRE HAUTE, Ind.- The Miami soccer team received its first loss of the year against Indiana State by a score of 2-0 on Thursday evening at Memorial Stadium. The RedHawks move to 1-1-1 and Indiana State is now 2-0-0.  

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Brooklyn Woods scored directly from a corner in the ninth minute after Mallory Thomas missed her punch trying to clear the ball to get the Sycamores' first. 
  •  Alexa Lehnert doubled Indiana State's lead in the 33rd minute after winning a fifty-fifty challenge against Jamie Hlebec just outside the box before slotting into the bottom corner.

NOTES

  • Both teams had nine shots and five on goal. 
  • Miami had seven corners to Indiana State's six. 
  • Kaiya Boyd and Kailyn Morrison both had two shots.
