Spaid Named First-Team All-American by D1Softball

Karli Spaid has been named a First-Team All-American by D1Softball.com on Tuesday morning. Spaid is the first RedHawk to earn first-team All-American accolades in program history.

The senior is coming off a career season, recording a .407 batting average, to go along with 36 home runs, 78 RBI and a 1.102 slugging percentage. She led the country in both home runs and slugging, and fell just one home run shy of matching the NCAA record for home runs in a season.

The 2024 MAC Player of the Year had 22 multi-hit games this past season and reached base in 40 consecutive games earlier this year. She added first-team All-MAC, MAC Tournament MVP and First-Team All-Region honors. She was also the seventh overall pick in the 2024 Athletes Unlimited Draft and was named one of 10 finalists for National Player of the Year by USA Softball.

She hit two home runs (including the first ever inside Love's Field) at Oklahoma and had multi home run efforts five times in 2024. She had a career-high six RBI in a win over Kansas City and finished the year with 41 walks to just 25 strikeouts

Spaid is Miami's all-time career leader in batting average (.395), hits (274), home runs (103), RBI (258) and slugging percentage (.924). The Chicago, Ill., native earned third-team All-America honors in 2022 and was named second-team All-America in 2023.
