Miami Finishes Season as MAC Runner-Up

WESTFIELD, Ind.— The RedHawks took second place as a team at the MAC Men's Golf Championship this weekend, their highest team finish since 2015. Miami earned a top-two finish at the event for the second time in the past 20 years. Additionally, captain Danny Fisher was named to the all-tournament team and Morgan Blythe earned MAC Freshman of the Year honors. Fisher also became the fourth consecutive RedHawk to win the MAC's annual Earl Yestingsmeier Sportsmanship Award.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

Fisher (68-69-75– 212) shot three above par during round three and finished with a three-round score of four below par. He finished in fourth place as an individual.
Michael Weber (70-67-78–215) made a 78, or six above par, in round three. He tied for ninth individually with a three-round score of one under par.
Blythe (73-72-73–218) tied for 12th overall with a three-round score of two over par. He shot one over par during the final round.
Brett Podobinski (72-77-72–221) shot par, or 72, during the third round to bring his three-round score to five over par. He finished in 19th place.
Matthew Mattioli (76-75-73–224) made a 73, or one over par, during round three and finished with a three-round score of eight over par. He tied for 27th place.
Miami's team score is 869, or five under par. They finished five strokes out of first place and four strokes ahead of third.
The MAC announced the following 2024 Men's Golf awards:
- Earl Yestingsmeier Sportsmanship Award: Danny Fisher, Miami
- Kermit Blosser Coach of the Year: Mike Fleck, Ball State
- Freshman of the Year: Morgan Blythe, Miami
- Golfer of the Year: Barend Botha, Toledo
The MAC individual champion was Barend Botha of Toledo.
The MAC runner up medalist was Bryce Reed of Kent State
