OXFORD, Ohio – Four starters scored in double digits as the Miami University women's basketball team claimed an 80-63 victory over Georgia State on Saturday afternoon in Millett Hall.
Jadyn Scott scored a career-high 27 points (21 in the second half) for Miami (6-16, 3-8 MAC), while Mya Williams had 15 points for the Panthers (13-9, 7-4 SBC).
Amber Tretter finished with 16 points and 12 rebounds for her fifth-straight double-double.
Cori Lard added a career-high 14 points and
Hennessey Luu-Brown chipped in with 10.
How it Happened:
- Tretter and Lard combined to score Miami's first nine points with a trio of triples. Tretter then found Luu-Brown for an open layup as the RedHawks led 13-9 midway through the first quarter. Miami's defense then allowed just two points in the last four minutes of the first to claim a 19-11 advantage after 10 minutes of play.
- Tretter's third three-pointer of the game pushed Miami to a double-digit lead, 24-14, 90 seconds into the second quarter. Luu-Brown added a bucket from behind the arc as Miami led 27-16, before a 7-2 GSU run cut the deficit, 29-23 with four minutes left in the half. Miami answered with a 7-0 run in a 75 second span to go up 36-23 and led 39-26 at the half.
- Miami opened the second half on a 9-2, pushing their lead to 20, 48-28, capped by a Tretter triple. Several times the Panthers climbed to within 15, but Miami closed the quarter, outscoring GSU 7-2 and led 62-41 entering the fourth.
- Maddy Huhn's triple made it 69-48, matching Miami's largest lead of the afternoon. GSU would never get closer than 17 points in the Miami win.
Game Notes:
- Miami scored a season-high 80 points in the win, 41 coming in the second half, also a season-high.
- Miami is now 3-2 on the season when scoring at least 60 points.
- With 16 points and 12 rebounds, Amber Tretter secured her fifth-straight double-double and seventh of the season.
- Miami finished the contest with a season-high 16 assists.
- Cori Lard's 14 points were a new career-high. She added eight assists and four steals.
- Miami drilled a season-high nine three pointers.
