OXFORD, Ohio — The Miami University swimming and diving team finished strong on day three of the Miami University Invitational at Corwin M. Nixon Aquatic Center on Dec. 7, 2024. The women's team finished in first place scoring 1171 points. The men finished in first place scoring 1210.5 points. Other placements for the women's teams were Indiana State University (981.5) in second and Dartmouth College (651) in third. Other placements for the men's teams were Dartmouth College (1094) in second and Ball State University (827.5) in third.
How it Happened:
- The finals for day three started with the women's 1650-yard freestyle, in which Casey Stephens came in second, recording a personal-best time of 16:47.67.
- The men's 1650-yard freestyle was next where Yonatan Rosin finished fourth earning a season-best time of 15:53.31.
- Ella Ziegert finished first in the women's 200-yard backstroke, recording a personal-best time of 1:57.00. Chrisna Bezuidenhout was right behind her in second also putting up a personal best time of 1:57.31. Angelina Cakuls came in third with a season-best time of 1:57.97
- Zach Bann came in second in the men's 200-yard backstroke with a season-best time of 1:47.69. Drew Watson placed third turning in a personal best time of 1:48.51. Aidan Jacobs finished fourth recording a season-best time of 1:49.72.
- After that was the women's 100-yard freestyle where Madeline Padavic came in second place with a personal-best time of 49.72, Kaylin Herbet placed third with a personal-best time of 49.95. Julia Waechter was fifth clocking a season-best time of 50.77.
- Ian Kmiliauskis finished first in the men's 100-yard freestyle, recording a season-best time of 44.09. Jack Herczeg was fifth earning a season-best time of 44.76.
- The women's 200-yard breaststroke was next where Emma Schueler came in fifth turning in a time of 2:18.30
- Adrian Dulay was first in the men's 200-yard breaststroke with a season-best time of 1:59.27.
- The women's 200-yard butterfly was next where Erin Szczupakiewicz finished third posting a season-best time of 2:00.89.
- Up next was the men's 200-yard butterfly where Owen Hoban finished first earning a season-best time of 1:47.82. Scott Spear finished in third place clocking a season-best time of 1:49.24.
- After that was the women's 400-yard freestyle relay, in which the women's A team finished second. Padavic, Herbet, Waechter and Jenna Halliday turned in a combined time of 3:20.89.
- Day three's swimming events concluded with the men's 400-yard freestyle relay where the men's A team took home first place. Herczeg, Henju Duvenhage, Kmiliauskis and Tegan Barrier turned in a combined time of 2:56.97.
