KENT, Ohio- The Miami soccer team lost 2-1 in overtime at No. 4 Kent State on Sunday afternoon in the MAC Tournament quarterfinals. Makenna Morrison scored the only goal for the RedHawks (8-5-6). Siena Stambolich netted the game-winner for Kent State (9-6-3).
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Kent State opened the scoring early after Jules Dolinski put in a ball that bobbled around inside the six-yard box and was struck in by Alisa Arthur in the third minute.
- The RedHawks replied with 27.2 seconds left in the first half when Katie O'Malley put in a shot that led to a rebound opportunity for Morrison to make it 1-1.
- Stambolich scored on a corner kick in the 10th minute of overtime to send KSU into the MAC semifinals.
NOTES
- Miami had 11 shots to Kent State's 14.
- O'Malley and Taylor Hamlett led the RedHawks with three shots each.
- Dominique Popa had three saves. Â
- Morrison scored for the second consecutive match, giving her a career-high six goals on the year.
- Nine different RedHawks played at least 98 minutes in the match.
