Women’s Basketball Inks Two

OXFORD, Ohio – Second-year head coach Glenn Box has added two signees for the 2025-26 season. Joining the RedHawks are Mio Sakano and Emily VanTimmeren.
Mio Sakano, Guard, 5-10, Yamanashi, Japan (IMG Academy)
High School:

Emily VanTimmeren, Forward, 6-3, Allendale, Mich. (Jenison)
High School:
Box Quote: "Emily is a young player with oodles of young talent just waiting to be unleashed. She is coming to Miami with a workman-like approach and she fits right into our culture. She is ready to grow both on and off the court. We are ecstatic both she and her family are a part of our family."

Junior College:
- Currently attends South Georgia Tech
- Averaged 13.8 points, 5.4 rebounds and 3.5 assists in 2023-24
- Also shot 51.9% from the floor last year
- Scored in double figures in 21 of 29 games, including a career-high 26 points versus South Crescent Tech
High School:
- Graduated from IMG Academy in Yamanashi, Japan
- Coached by Shell Dailey

- Currently attends Jenison High School in Allendale, Mich.
- Will enroll at Miami this December
- Played the previous three years at Grand Rapids Catholic Central High School (same High School as assistant coach Megan Belke)
- Coached by Brad VanTimmeren
- Averaged 11.7 points, 8.7 rebounds and 3.1 blocks per game as a junior
- Earned all-state honorable mention in 2023-24
- Recorded a triple-double last season, securing 12 points, 11 rebounds and 10 blocks
