RedHawks Add 11-Member Signing Class

Miami Hockey head coach Anthony Noreen has signed 11 new additions to his program. Chuck Blanchard, David Deputy, Cal Huston, Shaun McEwen, Charlie Michaud, Artemi Nizameyev, Michael Phelan, Ian Scherzer, Ryan Seelinger, Justin Stupka and Bradley Walker will join the RedHawks.

"As a staff, we are thrilled about this incoming recruiting class," said Noreen. "There is a high level of experience and talent within the class, but most importantly, their character, compete level, and the type of teammates they are is exactly what we want this program to be about.

"We have loved getting to know these guys over these past few months and tracking them with their current teams. We can't wait to have them here as part of our program in the future."

Chuck Blanchard, 6-0, 190, Forward, West Hartford, Ct./Cedar Rapids (USHL)

PRIOR TO MIAMI

Has tallied seven points (3-4-7) through 13 games in his first season with USHL's Cedar Rapids
Spent previous three years with Yale Jr. Bulldogs program
Put up 41 points (23-18-41) for Yale Jr. Bulldogs 18U AAA team in 2023-24
Played for Avon Old Farms High School

David Deputy, 5-8, 184, Forward, Gurnee, Ill./Omaha (USHL)

PRIOR TO MIAMI

Serves as assistant captain for Omaha Lancers this year and has 12 points (5-7-12) through first 15 games
Produced 35 points in 54 games for Omaha last season (18-17-35)
Spent 2022-23 campaign with NAHL's Philadelphia Rebels, putting up 53 points (23-30-53) in 60 games
Named NAHL East Division Rookie of the Year in 2022-23 and selected to NAHL All-Rookie Team
Attended Warren Township High School

Cal Huston, 6-0, 190, Defenseman, Youngstown, Ohio/Youngstown (USHL)

PRIOR TO MIAMI

Put up two assists through his first 13 games this season for Youngstown Phantoms
Handed out 21 assists in 50 regular-season appearances with a +13 rating for NAHL's Maryland Black Bears last year
Added five assists in 11 playoff games for Maryland in 2024
Attended Austintown Fitch High School
Plans to major in Finance at Miami

Shaun McEwen, 5-11, 182, Defenseman, South Hadley, Mass./Tri-City (USHL)

PRIOR TO MIAMI

Currently in his fourth season with USHL's Tri-City Storm and has played 149 regular-season games there
Now in his second season as team captain, including serving as captain in 2023-24 under then-head coach Noreen
Finished with double-digit point totals in 2022-23 (2-8-10) and again in 2023-24 (2-14-16)
Has participated in playoffs each of past three seasons with Tri-City, including three assists in 2023-24 postseason

Charlie Michaud, 6-0, 195, Defenseman, Denver, Colo./Madison (USHL)

PRIOR TO MIAMI

Serves as assistant captain with USHL's Madison Capitols, where he has put up six points (1-5-6) in 15 games this season
Produced 16 points (4-12-16) in 55 appearances for Madison last season with a +11 rating and added one assist in postseason
Has been named USHL Defenseman of Week on two separate occasions
Previously served as assistant captain with Little Caesars 15U and 16U AAA teams, including 53-point campaign (17-36-53) with 16U group in 2022-23

Artemi Nizameyev, 5-10, 192, Forward, Chelyabinsk, Russia/Tri-City (USHL)

PRIOR TO MIAMI

Currently in his third season with USHL's Tri-City Storm, where he has 14 points (8-6-14) through first 16 games this year
Put up 49 points (16-33-49) in 50 appearances for Tri-City last year, adding six points in five playoff games
Joined Storm in 2022-23, collecting 14 points (4-10-14) in 52 games that season for then-coach Anthony Noreen
Came up through Traktor Chelyabinsk organization, where he served as team captain for several seasons

Michael Phelan, 5-11, 175, Defenseman, Hinsdale, Ill./Waterloo (USHL)

PRIOR TO MIAMI

Won a 15U national championship with Chicago Mission in 2022
Has produced three goals and nine assists in his time with Waterloo
Has made 72 appearances for Waterloo since 2023 and currently serves as assistant captain

Ian Scherzer, 6-0, 183, Forward, Villach, Austria/Madison (USHL)

PRIOR TO MIAMI

Has contributed seven points (1-6-7) in first 15 games for Madison Capitols this year
Collected 11 points (2-9-11) in 35 regular-season games for Rögle BK last season
Helped his club claim J18 SM bronze medal (in 2021-22) and J20 SM gold medal (2022-23)
Played for Austria at 2022 World Juniors, putting up three points (1-2-3) in four games
Also skated for Austria at 2023 WJC, where he was voted a top-three player with four points (1-3-4) in six appearances
Put up 69 points in regular season (28-41-69) and 22 more in postseason (15-7-22) for ICEJL U-18 champion team in 2020-21, setting records for postseason goals, postseason points and best playoff plus-minus (+16)

Ryan Seelinger, 5-11, 180, Forward, Downers Grove, Ill./Des Moines (USHL)

PRIOR TO MIAMI

Put up 48 points (18-30-48) in 58 regular-season appearances for New Mexico (NAHL) last season
Named 2023-2024 NAHL Rookie of the Year
Added six points in six playoff games for New Mexico in 2024
Has produced seven points (4-3-7) through 14 games this season for USHL's Des Moines Buccaneers
Attended Downers Grove North High School

Justin Stupka, 6-2, 213, Forward, New Cumberland, Pa./Sioux City (USHL)

PRIOR TO MIAMI

Produced 24 points (10-14-24) between USHL's Omaha Lancers and Sioux City Musketeers last year
Contributed 13 points (4-9-13) for Omaha in 2022-23
Has played 132 USHL games, including 15 this season for Sioux City
Came up through Pittsburgh Penguins Elite program, serving as team captain in 16U year
Was a standout high school baseball pitcher and once recorded 18 strikeouts in a game

Bradley Walker, 6-1, 200, Forward, Orono, Minn./Waterloo (USHL)

Added five assists over eight 2024 playoff games for El Paso
