CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – On Sunday afternoon the Miami University field hockey team dropped a close 1-0 decision to No. 4 University of Virginia. The RedHawks move to 8-7 on the season (5-1 MAC). Virginia moves to 12-2 (5-1 ACC).
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The first quarter ended without a change in the 0-0 score.
- A penalty stroke goal from Virginia halfway through the second quarter gave them a 1-0 lead heading into the second half.
- The RedHawks held the Cavaliers to their 1-0 lead through impressive defense in the third quarter, where they successfully defended five penalty corners.
- Despite a strong effort from the RedHawks, the Cavaliers took the game 1-0 at the end of the final quarter.
