RedHawks Fall to Toledo in MAC Opener

OXFORD, Ohio – The Miami University women's basketball team went toe-to-toe with the Mid-American Conference preseason favorites, Toledo Rockets, on Wednesday evening, falling 70-52. Miami (2-9, 0-1 MAC) trailed by one with 12 minutes to play and was led by Jadyn Scott (13) and Katey Richason (12). Sophia Wiard scored 26 for the Rockets (8-3, 1-0 MAC).

How it Happened:
- Toledo took a 12-11 lead with 3:10 to play in the first before a Jadyn Scott jumper and a Maddy Huhn triple gave Miami a 15-12 advantage with 1:35 on the clock. The Rockets closed the quarter on a 4-0 run and led 16-15 after 10 minutes of action.
- The Rockets opened the second with a triple to take a 19-15 advantage, but back-to-back buckets from Richason and a layup from Amber Tretter spotted the RedHawks a 21-19 lead, forcing a Toledo timeout. After a free throw, Toledo reclaimed a three-point advantage at 28-25 before Tretter scored four-straight for a 29-28 Miami lead. Toledo connected on a triple with five seconds to go to give the Rockets a 31-29 halftime lead.
- A 9-4 run midway through the third gave Toledo a 44-37 lead. Moments later, Huhn drilled a triple in transition to shrink the deficit to four and on the next possession Núria Jurjo knocked in a three-pointer from the corner to make it a one-point game, 44-43. Toledo's 7-2 run in the final 1:46 spotted the Rockets a 51-45 advantage entering the fourth.
- A Jadyn Scott jumper made it 53-47 Toledo with 8:07 to play, but the RedHawks scored just two points over the next four minutes and trailed 58-49 with just over four minutes to play. Jadyn Scott's three-point play made it 58-52 with 3:41 to go, but Miami could get no closer.

- Richason finished the contest with 12 points, one shy of her career-high.
