COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — The Miami University hockey team got an early power-play goal from PJ Fletcher and a late shorthanded one from Dylan Moulton, but No. 18/18 Colorado College found enough offense in between to defeat the RedHawks 4-2 Saturday.

Bruno Bruveris made 28 saves in net for the second consecutive night for Miami (7-13-2, 1-10-1 NCHC) . Max Burkholder led the Tigers (13-8-1, 7-5-0 NCHC) offensively with three points.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

2:13 1st (Miami 1-0) | Miami went on the power play less than two minutes into the game, and it didn't take long for Fletcher to capitalize. Rihards Simanovičs sent a pass across from the left point to Albin Nilsson, and although Nilsson's ensuing shot was blocked, it caromed directly to Fletcher, who knocked home the easy rebound to give the Red and White a 1-0 lead.
6:50 1st (CC 1-1) | Noah Laba tied the game later in the period for the home team, winning a faceoff to Burkholder and then taking advantage of a pass across the crease to repeatedly jam at the puck and eventually slip it inside the left goalpost.
9:22 1st (CC 2-1) | Later in the period, the RedHawks successfully killed off their first penalty of the game, but were unable to clear the zone. Burkholder skated the puck along the end boards and around the far side of the goal before firing it in to give CC a 2-1 lead. Logan Will and Klavs Veinbergs picked up assists for the Tigers.
14:31 2nd (CC 3-1) | The Tigers doubled their lead on a second-period goal from Jack Millar. Veinbergs and Evan Werner were battling with multiple RedHawks along the end boards to try and win the puck, and Veinbergs ultimately poked it free to Millar in the center of the CC offensive zone for a shot to make it 3-1.
11:11 3rd (CC 4-1) | Colorado College added an insurance goal during a power play in the final period. Will carried the puck into Miami's zone, and although Bruveris stopped the ensuing shot from Burkholder, Zaccharya Wisdom was in the right place to finish off the rebound.
17:15 3rd (Miami 4-2) | Moulton made a brilliant individual play to take the puck the length of the rink and rip a shorthanded goal to pull the RedHawks within 4-2. Moulton initially received the puck behind the Miami net from Jack Clement and weaved around the majority of the Tigers on the ice before firing a shot to beat goaltender Kaidan Mbereko.

GAME NOTES:

Miami was without two of its top four scorers and two-thirds of its top line from the previous game (Matthew Barbolini and Raimonds Vitolins) due to injury.
Sullivan was credited with a season-high four shots on goal.
Nilsson has produced a point in three of his four appearances this season.
Moulton lit the lamp for the third time in four games and scored Miami's first shorthanded goal since Nov. 11, 2022.
Both teams finished 1-for-4 on the power play.
Fletcher's goal was his team-leading 10th of the season.
Clement got on the scoresheet with an assist for the second straight night.
