RedHawks Drop in Three to New Mexico State

NORMAL, Ill. — The Miami University volleyball team (2-6) dropped a three-set match to New Mexico State (5-2) Friday evening at the Redbird Classic.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Miami led 9-8 in the beginning of the first set after Gentry Warrick sparked the RedHawk offense with a kill and service ace. The Aggies stayed resilient, going on an 11-4 run to claim a 19-13 advantage heading into the end of the set. Despite a late push, the Red and White fell 25-19.
- The second set started off very competitive at 5-5 after Caroline Cermack, Brooke Jackson and Maggie McCrary each put down a kill. New Mexico State answered with a 4-0 run and used this momentum to maintain their lead until taking the set 25-15.
- A service ace from Gracie Norris and a kill from Jackson gave the RedHawks a strong start. The set was all tied up at 10-10 after McCrary knocked down a kill. New Mexico State attempted to put the set away at 19-14. Shortly after, a service ace from Warrick brought Miami within two at 19-17. The Aggies were able to fend off Miami's offensive push and ended the set with a 25-19 victory.
- Warrick put down a team-high two service aces.
- McCrary recorded the team-high two blocks.
- Cermack led all RedHawks with seven digs.
