For their performances last week, the Miami football offensive line and Reese Wearren have been named Miami's Athletes of the Week, presented by Skyline Chili for the week of September 25.
Â
Male Winners: Football Offensive Line
Miami's offensive line paved the way for a Yager Stadium-record 466 rushing yards in the 62-20 win over Delaware State last Saturday. The offensive line did not allow a tackle for loss or even a quarterback hurry as Miami running backs combined for six rushing touchdowns and Brett Gabbert threw for 180 yards and two touchdowns. The RedHawks averaged 10.8 yards on the ground for the day as Miami scored its most points since 1997. In all, 13 members of the offensive line saw action: Kolby Borders, Reid Holskey, Ben Jackson, Will Jados, Brandon Lawhorn Moore, Charlie Nank, Gavin Rohrs, Caleb Siech, Eric Smith, Drew Terrill, Sam Vaughan, Marcus White and John Young.    Â
Female Winner: Reese Wearren
Reese Wearren was an integral part of Miami Field Hockey's offense this weekend. In the RedHawks' tight 1-0 win at No. 17 Wake Forest Sunday, she played all 60 minutes. In Miami's 4-1 conference win on Friday at Appalachian State, the junior striker scored her first goal of the season, finishing with a game-high three shots on goal. Wearren is a Strategic Communication major in the College of Arts and Science from Louisville, Ky.
