Miami Claims First Win of the Season Over UIC

Oxford, Ohio- The Miami soccer team claimed their first win of the season at Bobby Kramig Field against the University of Illinois Chicago on Sunday afternoon. The RedHawks move to 1-2-1 and UIC is now 0-2-1.  

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Makenna Morrison headed home the only goal in the 26th minute on a corner from Haley Anspach for Miami. 
  • UIC's best chance came from a looping shot against the post by Makena Shaw in the 62nd minute. 

NOTES

  • Miami had a dominant first half outshooting UIC 10-2 but a more even second half kept the game close.
  • Dominique Popa records a two save clean sheet. 
  • A game changing moment was a goal line clearance by junior Mercedes Schroer in the second half.
