Miami Rolls to 3-0 Win Over Alcorn State

MEMPHIS, Tenn. —The Miami University volleyball team secured a 3-0 match victory against Alcorn State University on Friday evening at the Larry O. Finch Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Miami got off to a great start in the first set after Ellie Hanson produced a kill and a service ace to take a 2-0 lead. The RedHawks then used a 4-0 run to stretch their lead to 8-4 and regain command of the set. Alcorn State went on to make a push until back-to back kills from Hanson and Maggie McCrary gave Miami control at 11-6. The Braves brought the set within two points at 16-14, but a collection of late kills from Miami pulled in a 25-17 win.
- The Red and White took command of the second set right away, totaling seven early kills and taking a 10-3 advantage. Despite a late push from Alcorn State, Miami was able to finish the set off 25-19. Miami totaled 17 kills in this set, led by freshman Raegan Lantz who recorded seven kills in the set.
- In the third set, the RedHawks offense stayed hot and outscored the Braves 16-4 at the start. Alcorn State stayed resilient, but ultimately fell 25-17. Late kills from Caroline Cermack and Breannah Peterson helped seal the match.
NOTES:
- Hayden Hicks recorded a match-high 20 assists.
- Chelsea Williams led all players with three service aces.
- Lantz produced the most kills in the match (14).
