Miami Dominates at RedHawk Invitational

OXFORD, Ohio-- The Miami University track and field team closed out the second day of the RedHawk Invitational on Saturday with a strong performance, with the RedHawks building momentum for next weekend's trip to the Billy Hayes Invitational to close the regular season.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • To get the second day of the invitational started, the RedHawks took first and second place in women's pole vault. Emily Eterovich (3.60m) finished first in the event, while Grace Hicks placed second with 3.50m.
  • On the field, in the women's discus, Santornya Ralliford (45.74) placed first and was the sole representative for Miami.
  • In women's shot put, Ralliford claimed second place at 13.15m.
  • In the women's long jump, Elle Miller (5.45m) placed first, as Ella Scally (5.38) and Katie Folta (5.31m) rounded out the top three for the RedHawks.
  • Also on the field, in men's discus, Ryan Smith (48.78) finished in first place. The RedHawks had two additional top-five finishers, as Adam Smith (46.85) took second and Ben Riegel (43.43) was fifth.
  • Abby Suszek (55.65) secured first place in the women's 400 meters as Gabriela Cossio was second, with a personal-best time of 56.49.  Rachel Smith and Gretchen Feldkamp also posted top-five finishes with PRs. (58.83 and 59.04, respectively).
  • Alanah Owens finished first in the women's 100 meter with a time of 12.44. Miami swept the top three spots, as Ella Scally placed second (12.66) and Chloe Rickson took third with a PR of 12.72. In the men's 100 meter, Julian Wagner (10.83) secured first place, as Remy Schulz (11.10) took third and Leo Bouldin (11.14) finished in fourth. 
  • On the field, in the men's shot put, the RedHawks had four top-five performers. Ryan Smith (16.85m) earned second, Ben Riegel followed right behind with 16.00m, Blake Presley secured fourth with 15.57m and rounding out the top five was Reilly Worthington (15.39m).
  • In the men's 800 meters, Jack Klein came in second as the sole RedHawk with a time of 1:54.44.
  • In the women's 1500m, Carmen Riano set a new personal best with a 4:31.62 time to take first place. Annie Christie also set a PR (4:33.65), coming in second. Gianna Labbiento took fourth place (4:48.14).
  • In the women's 4x100 relay, the team of Owens, Camryn Dunn, Chloe Rickson, Ella Scally finished first with a time of 48.70.
  • The men's 4x100 Relay team of Wagner, Harrison, Schulz and Bouldin also secured first for the RedHawks (42.16).
  • The women's 4x400 "A" team of Miami won with a time of 3:52.52 (Sydney Harmon, Abby Suszek, Gabby Cossio, Rachel Smith).
  • Closing out the invitational, in the men's 4x 400m relay, Miami's team of Jacob Matthews, Sam Pearl, Josh Mikulka, and Jacob Ranker took first place at 3:41.33.
 
WHAT'S NEXT:
The RedHawks travel to Bloomington, Ind. to compete in the Billy Hayes Invitational Saturday, May 6.
