RedHawks in 16th After Day One of Border Olympics

LAREDO, Texas— Miami University's men's golf team is in 16th place heading into the second day of the University of Houston's Border Olympics tournament. Brett Podobinski currently leads the RedHawks with a score of two above par in the first round and a score of six above par through the first 16 holes of the second round. Miami will complete the final two holes of the second round, as well as the third and final round of the tournament, on Tuesday morning. 
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Brett Podobinski's current score of eight above par has him tied for 40th overall, placing him in the top half of all participants.
  • Michael Weber recorded an eagle on hole one, a par five, during the second round. This marked the first eagle of the year for the RedHawks.
  • Danny Fisher finished even with par during his second round, improving his first-round score by eight strokes.
  • The RedHawks' team score was 36 above par at the end of the first day, putting them one stroke ahead of Houston Christian and four strokes behind Lamar University.
 
UP NEXT:
Miami will wrap up at the Border Olympics Tuesday, Feb. 14 with 20 holes to go. Play will begin at 7:30 a.m. at Laredo Country Club.
