John Waldron and Matthew Barbolini scored for the RedHawks, who improved to 5-8-1 (0-6-0 NCHC). The Lakers fall to 4-7-2 (2-2-2 AHA).
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- 11:09 1st (Miami 1-0) | Miami scored the only goal of the opening period. After Waldron maneuvered around multiple defenders and fired a shot wide from the left circle, Max Dukovac retrieved it along the boards and played it to William Hallén. Hallén fed it into the middle for Dukovac to tip across to Waldron, and Waldron buried a quick shot to put Miami up 1-0.
- 15:08 3rd (Miami 2-0) | The RedHawks killed off a crucial penalty in the latter stages of the third period, and Barbolini gave them some breathing room with a goal as the Lakers' power play expired. The senior forward got his stick on the puck in the defensive zone to spark a 2-on-1 rush and ripped a shot past Mercyhurst's Owen Say after faking a pass, doubling Miami's lead.
