Women's Swim and Dive Beat EMU on the Road

YPSILANTI, Mich. - The Miami University women's swimming & diving team beat Eastern Michigan on the road on Saturday, Oct. 28. The RedHawks earned multiple wins to finish the meet ahead of EMU, 179-120.

How It Happened:

  • The meet began with a win in the 200 medley relay from Madeline Padavic, Emma Schueler, McKenzie Reid and Nicole Maier for a combined time of 1:43.14
  • Maier secured two first-place finishes in the 50-yard freestyle (23.46) followed by Julia Waechter in second (24.14), as well as the 100-yard butterfly (55.94).
  • Audrey Conley placed first in the 100-yard freestyle (10:31.87) alongside Casey Stephens in third (10.45.73).
  • Miami also saw two first-place finishes from Kaylin Herbet in the 200-yard freestyle (1:53.04) alongside Greta Kolbeck in second place (1:56.62), and the 200-yard IM (2:05.65) with Ashley Sego following in second (2:08.49).
  • Other first-place finishers were Padavic in the 100 yard backstroke (55.92), Erin Szczupakiewicz in the 200 yard butterfly (2:06.63), Waechter in the 100 yard freestyle (51.80), Chrisna Bezuidenhout in the 200 yard backstroke (2:01.47) and Kolbeck in the 500 freestyle (4:58.91).
  •  Miami also secured multiple second-place finishes; Sara Lahrach Sanchez earned a time of 1:05.60 in the 100-yard breaststroke, Padavic with a time of 2:05.23 in the 200-yard backstroke and Schueler with a time of 2:24.63 in the 200-yard breaststroke.
  • Other third-place finishers on the board were Bezuidenhout in the 100-yard backstroke (57.38), Mady Bachmeier in the 200-yard butterfly (2:08.36), Maggie Stock in the 100-yard freestyle (53.68) and Szczupakiewicz with a time of 5:11.06 in the 500-yard freestyle.
  • In diving events, Sydney Rice landed first place in the 3-meter dive earning 290.78 points.The meet concluded with the 200-yard freestyle relay where Miami's A relay of Maier, Natalie Gilson, Jenna Halliday and Honor Brodie-Foy finished with a combined time of 1:35.96.

Up Next: 

The women's swimming and diving team will return to action against the University of Buffalo at Corwin M. Nixon Aquatic Center on Saturday, Nov. 11 at 11 a.m. The men will next compete in the Miami Invitational beginning on Thursday, Nov. 30 through Saturday, Dec. 2 at home along with the women.
