Miami Falls in Three Sets to Central Michigan

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. — The Miami University volleyball team dropped in three sets to Central Michigan University Saturday evening at McGuirk Arena. The Chippewas won by a score of 25-23, 25-20, 25-12. Miami moves to 5-20 (1-12 MAC) on the season, while Central Michigan improves to 12-13 (6-7 MAC).
HOW IT HAPPENED:
At the start of the first set, Raegan Lantz knocked down a kill to make the score 3-3. The Chippewas answered with a 5-0 run, but the Red and White stayed resilient and kept within three points 13-10. Shortly after, a Brooke Jackson service ace brought the score to 17-15. Miami ended the first set with four unanswered points to come within one at 24-23, but the effort wasn't enough as the Chippewas edged the RedHawks 25-23.
The second set was tied at seven apiece before Central Michigan attempted to pull away at 10-7. Miami took a 12-10 lead after Maggie McCrary sparked a 5-0 run thanks to back-to-back kills. Approaching the end of the set, Lantz recorded a service ace to tie the score at 17-17. Central Michigan ended the second set with a 25-20 win.
In the third set, Central Michigan claimed an early 11-3 advantage. Miami attempted to get the offense rolling after Hayden Hicks put down a service ace, and Lantz added a pair of kills. The Chippewas closed the final set with a 25-12 victory.

The RedHawks continue road play against Buffalo on Friday, Nov. 3 at 6 p.m. The Red and White close out their second game against the Bulls on Saturday, Nov. 4 at 4 p.m.
