Resilient RedHawks Down Kent State

OXFORD, Ohio- The Miami soccer team defeated Kent State 1-0 at Bobby Kramig Field on Sunday afternoon. This was the RedHawks'Â first win in MAC play this season. Miami improves to 4-7-1 (1-3-0 in MAC) and Kent State drops to 6-3-2 (3-1-0 in MAC).Â
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Haley Anspach had a creative headed flick to get around the goalie and tap in Miami's opener on a free kick assist from Madeline Schlecht in the 61st minute.
- Kent State had a shot in the 84th minute that rolled past Dominique Popa before hitting the post and being picked up to keep the clean sheet.Â
NOTES
- Taylor Hamlett had four of Miami's 16 shots.
- Popa had a five-save shutout for her third clean sheet of the season.
- Miami had 11 corner kicks to Kent State's five.Â
