
Cisek Named Champions 4 Life Leadership Academy Director

Miami University's Associate Athletic Director, Jennie Gilbert, has announced the addition of Emily Cisek as the new Champions 4 Life Leadership Academy Director.

In this newly formed role, Cisek will create foundational, sequential, immersive and comprehensive leadership programming for student-athletes involved in the Champions 4 Life Leadership Academy. She will challenge the student-athletes within the C4L Leadership Academy through readings, activities, journaling and mentoring.

Other duties include to develop a planned course for credit to all student-athletes to assist in the development of mature, confident leaders for all of our Miami athletic teams as well as assist with career mentoring initiatives to support our goal of 100% placement at a first destination within six months of graduation. She will also coordinate leadership programming for coaches and staff within the department and provide support and consultation to coaches and staff in areas of team building, motivation, communication, and conflict resolution.

Prior to joining the RedHawks, Cisek served as Visiting Assistant Professor for the College of Saint Benedict and Saint John's University (2021-22). Emily also consults with student-athletes as a Mental Performance Coach for IMG Academy+ and has been a Visiting Faculty member in the Sport Leadership and Management Department for Miami since 2022.

She has also spent time as a Graduate Assistant for the Institute for the Study of Youth Sports at Michigan State (2017-21) and a Graduate Assistant for the Rinella Learning Center at Miami (2015-17).

"She brings with her vast professional experience in educational leadership and sport psychology, along with an engaging demeanor that will resonate with our student-athletes. We are looking forward to watching the connections and her impact."

Cisek completed her psychology degree from Pennsylvania State University in 2014, a master's degree in kinesiology and health from Miami in 2017, and recently finished her doctorate degree in sport psychology from Michigan State University in 2021.
