McCombs Joins Volleyball Coaching Staff

Miami University head volleyball coach Carolyn Condit has announced the addition of Brianna McCombs to her staff as an assistant coach. McCombs spent the past two seasons at Jacksonville University as a graduate assistant/defensive coordinator.

"Brianna was a very successful Division I libero, who is well versed on the strategies and fine teaching points that will help elevate our team's passing and defensive game," said Condit. "She has a passion for volleyball and for helping student-athletes gain confidence to become their best. I especially appreciate Bri's enthusiasm to join our RedHawk program, her eagerness to learn and willingness to contribute to any role asked of her. She has worked with many fine coaches and mentors on the college and club levels and will be a fine addition to our coaching staff!"

While with the Dolphins, McCombs served as the travel coordinator and defensive coordinator and was also in charge of service reception. She played a key role in academics, coordinating weekly meetings with players to track academic progress. McCombs helped develop libero Kariana Ayala-Drew, who achieved ASUN Scholar-Athlete of the Year in 2022.

McCombs worked in various roles at Ohio University from 2020-2021. She served as the director of volleyball operations, COVID travel coordinator and as a volunteer assistant coach. She joined the Bobcats after spending four years with Lexington United. While serving as the head volleyball coach of the Lexington United 15 and 16 open teams. 70% of her athletes went on to attend Division I schools. Prior to Lexington, McCombs was an assistant with Alliance Volleyball Club (2012-2014).

McCombs attended Middle Tennessee State University in 2012 and transferred to Lipscomb University in 2013. While with the Blue Raiders, McCombs totaled 470 digs, 24 service aces and 72 assists. During her Lipscomb career, she was an ASUN First Team All-Conference selection and won the ASUN Defensive Player of the Year award. McCombs also holds the Bisons' program record for most digs in a five-set match.

She led the ASUN in digs (4.62 per set) in 2023, finishing the year with 469 digs in 111 sets. McCombs also ranked in the top 10 in conference play with 28 service aces that season. In 2014, McCombs recorded 505 digs, a mark that only four other league players reached that season. She repeated her strong serving performance from the year prior, totaling 28 service aces, and added 38 assists as well. That same year, she helped the Bisons become the first ASUN volleyball team to earn an at-large bid to the NCAA tournament.

McCombs graduated from the University of Kentucky in 2020 with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and is in the process of completing a Master of Science in Organizational Leadership at Jacksonville University.

I am thrilled for this new opportunity to challenge and elevate young women's growth both on and off the court here at Miami!"
