Miami University's swimming and diving teams opened their 2022-23 season at home, splitting wins against Oakland University on Friday, Sept. 30, at Nixon Aquatic Center. The women's team dominated, finishing 208-92, while the men's team fell just short, coming in at 160-140.

How It Happened:
- The RedHawks took first in both the women's and men's 200 medley relay. For the women, Jenna Halliday, Emma Schueler, McKenzie Reid and Nicole Maier combined for a time of 1:43.89. The men brought in Owen Blazer, Adrian Dulay, Henju Duvenhage and Pedro Gueiros for the win, finishing with a combined time of 1:31.18.
- Miami freshman Greta Kolbeck finished first in three solo events across the meet: the 200 freestyle (1:49.77), alongside Mollie Lumsden in third (1:54.62); the 100 freestyle (51.54), with Julia Waechter in third (52.05); and the 500 freestyle (4:54.04), where Audrey Conley finished second (5:08.17) and Katheryn Antonowich finished third (5:11.84).
- Maier claimed two solo victories for the RedHawks, earning a 2:02.43 in the 200 butterfly and a 2:05.74 in the 200 IM. The former event also saw a third place finish from Erin Szczupakiewicz (2:05.09), while the latter had Emily Rinker coming in third (2:09.74).
- Other first place finishes for the Miami women's team included Conley in the 1000 freestyle (10:25.94), Waechter in the 50 freestyle (23.94) and Reid in the 100 butterfly (57.16).
- For the men's team, first place went to Gueiros in the 50 freestyle (20.84), Duvenhage in the 100 butterfly (50.01) and Evan Kindseth in the 1000 freestyle (9:36.84), who also finished second in the 500 freestyle (4:43.36).
- Sara Lahrach-Sanchez finished second in two events, placing in the 100 breaststroke (1:06.14), along with Schueler in third (1:06.18), and the 200 breaststroke (2:23.28), along with Ashley Sego in third (2:25.38).
- Madeline Padavic (100 back, 58.89), Taylor Connors (50 free, 23.95), Rinker (200 back, 2:06.03) and Szczupakiewicz (100 fly, 57.18) also had second place finishes for the women, as did Maguire Sheppard (200 fly, 1:53.76), Jack Herczeg (50 free, 21.02), Dulay (200 breast, 2:04.19) and Allen Cotton (200 IM, 1:54.28) for the men.
- Coming in third for the women were Mady Bachmeier (100 back, 1:00.21), Honor Brodie-Foy (50 free, 23.98), Reese Dismukes (200 back, 2:06.38) and Maggie Patterson (100 fly, 57.81). The men's team had third-place finishes from Yonatan Rosin (1000 free, 9:45.77 and 500 free, 4:44.69), Cotton (200 free, 1:42.36), Blazer (100 back, 51.27), Dulay (100 breast, 57.16), Herczeg (100 free, 45.89), Zach Bann (200 back, 1:52.62) and Sheppard (100 fly, 52.20).
- Closing out the meet for the swimmers, the women's team finished the 400 freestyle relay in first, with Kolbeck, Waechter, Halliday and Maier bringing in a combined time of 3:26.44. The men's team came in second, earning a combined time of 3:04.74 from Herczeg, Matt Fetterman, Gueiros and Duvenhage.
- In diving events, Sydney Rice and Jackson Miller finished first in both their events for Miami. Rice earned a score of 287.63 in the 1 meter dive and a 291.00 in the 3 meter dive, while Miller picked up scores of 295.00 in the 1 meter dive and 327.98 in the 3 meter dive. Mia Meinhardt finished second for the women's team in the 1 meter dive (248.10) and 3 meter dive (259.00), as did John Dymond for the men's team (1 meter dive, 287.00; 3 meter dive, 297.60). Victor Hearn came in third in both the 1 meter dive (248.00) and 3 meter dive (259.65).
