
Miami Drops Road Contest To Ohio 2-0

ATHENS, Ohio – On Thursday afternoon, the Miami University women's soccer team (5-3-2; 1-1-1 Mid-American Conference) fell to the Ohio University women's soccer team (5-4-1; 1-2-0 MAC) by a 2-0 scoreline.

The RedHawks will return home to face the University of Akron on Sunday, Oct. 2 at 1 p.m.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- At the 14th minute mark, sophomore Makenna Morrison robbed an Ohio defender off the ball inside the penalty area. Morrison's subsequent close-range attempt was saved.
- Four minutes later, after junior Camber Hayes forced a turnover in the offensive half, junior Taylor Hamlett found herself one on one with the goalkeeper. Hamlett's shot was parried by Ohio's goalkeeper.
- Despite putting a lot of pressure on Ohio's defense throughout the half, the RedHawks did not find the back of the net in the first half.
- Just before the hour mark, Hayes dribbled out towards the right flank before sending the ball into the penalty box. On the receiving end of the cross, Hamlett headed the ball towards the top right corner but the attempt was saved.
- Past the 65th minute mark, Ohio scored from the edge of the box and took a 1-0 lead.
- Five minutes before full-time, Ohio scored following an attack from the left flank and took a 2-0 win.
NOTES:
- Freshman Caroline Palmer returned to the starting lineup for her 10th appearance as a RedHawk.
- With their 10th start of the season, senior Emily Sexton and senior Kennedy Gray have made their 50th and 55th appearance for Miami, respectively.
- The RedHawks outshot the Bobcats by 14 to nine, including nine shots on target compared to Ohio's three.
