RedHawks Fall to Indiana 2-1

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – On Sunday afternoon the Miami University field hockey team fell to Indiana University 2-1. The loss drops the RedHawks to 6-4 on the season and brings the Hoosiers to 7-4.

The RedHawks return to the field Friday, Sept. 30 at 1 p.m. to face Appalachian State University in Oxford, Ohio.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Just over four minutes into the first quarter, the Hoosiers scored on a penalty stroke, taking the 1-0 lead.
- During a penalty corner, with less than three minutes left in the quarter, Claudia Negrete Garcia scored her seventh goal of the season, tying the game 1-1. She was assisted by Luli Rosso.
- The game remained tied through the end of the first quarter.
- With just over two minutes left in the second quarter, the Hoosiers scored, taking a 2-1 lead, which they held through the end of the first half.
- The score remained unchanged through the end of the third and fourth quarter.
- Indiana won the competition 2-1.
UP NEXT:
The RedHawks return to the field Friday, Sept. 30 at 1 p.m. to face Appalachian State University in Oxford, Ohio.
