Miami Opens MAC Play With 2-2 Draw To Ball State

OXFORD, Ohio – On Thursday afternoon, the Miami University women's soccer team (4-2-2; 0-0-1 Mid-American Conference) started conference play with a 2-2 draw at home to the Ball State Cardinals (1-3-4; 0-0-1 MAC).
 
HOW IT HAPPENED: 
  • Ball State opened the scoring within the first minute of game time with a shot from the edge of the box, making it 1-0 for the Cardinals.
  • Five minutes later, Ball State scored from a close-range tap-in to extend the lead to 2-0.
  • At the 28th minute mark, junior Camber Hayes, with a 35-yard left-sided free kick, scored to narrow the gap to a single goal.
  • Ten minutes into the second half, Hayes launched one from deep for freshman Norah Roush to head in the equalizing goal, making it 2-2.
 
NOTES:
  • Junior Taylor Hamlett made her first appearance for the Miami RedHawks.
  • By finding the back of the net, Hayes recorded her first goal for Miami.
  • The RedHawks had 13 shots compared to Ball State's nine, forcing seven saves from the Cardinals.

The RedHawks continue MAC play with an away game at Central Michigan University on Sunday, Sept. 25. Kickoff is set at 1 p.m.
