OXFORD, Ohio – Coming off a 3-0 away win, the Miami University's women's soccer team (4-2-1) took down the Marshall University's women's soccer team (1-4-2) by a score of 2-1. This was the final non-conference game of the 2022 season and also the first home victory of the season for the RedHawks.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- At the 37th minute mark junior Camber Hayes swung in a left-sided corner to sophomore Makenna Morrison. Morrison, who was waiting at the far post, scored a towering header to make it 1-0 for Miami.
- Five minutes into the second half, Marshall scored off a grounded cross to equalize, 1-1.
- In the 55th minute, Hayes launched the ball from the defensive third into the path of senior Jaimie Tottleben. The senior maneuvered two Marshall defenders and slotted the ball past the Marshall goalkeeper to give Miami a 2-1 lead and the eventual victory.
NOTES:
- Morrison's opening goal was Miami's first goal on home ground.
- Tottleben opened her account for the 2022 season with the match-winning goal.
- Hayes has assisted five of the eight goals that Miami has scored in the 2022 season.
- The Redhawks outshot the Thundering Herd by 21 to six, with seven shots on goal for Miami compared to Marshall's four.
