RedHawks Picked to Defend MAC Crown

The Miami University field hockey team, winners of the last five regular season championships, was picked to defend its crown in 2022, voted on by the league's eight head coaches. The announcement was made by the league office on Monday morning.

Miami had 60 points and five first-place votes in the preseason poll. The RedHawks were followed by Kent State (52 points), Appalachian State (39 points), Longwood (38 points), Ohio (34 points), Ball State (22 points), Bellarmine (20 points) and Central Michigan (15 points).

Miami is coming off a banner year, finishing the regular season with a 12-11 overall record and a 6-1 record in conference play. Miami hosted its first-ever NCAA Tournament contest in 2021 as well (beat Maine, 3-2).
