
RedHawks Track & Field Continue Through MAC Championships

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Miami University track & field teams continued through the Mid-American Conference Championships with day two of competition on Friday, May 13 at Western Michigan University. The women's team advanced to fourth place overall with 32 total points, while the men's team remained in fifth with 27 total points.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Charlie Harders and Dan Conway both earned podium placement for the RedHawks in the men's 3000 steeplechase. Harders (9:24.61) finished in first, with Conway (9:30.29) finishing third.
- Carmen Riano topped the podium in the women's 3000 steeplechase with a time of 9:58.31, a meet record. Julia Rushing (10:50.90) and Katie Vitou (10:55.48) also picked up points for Miami, placing fourth and sixth respectively.
- Sam Pearl took third place for the RedHawks in the men's 400 dash preliminaries with a time of 48.24; Leo Bouldin (49.04) and Jacob Matthews (49.15) also qualified Luke Finnegan come in second during the men's 100 dash preliminaries with a time of 10.52, while Julian Wagner (10.68) qualified as well.
- Eman Alfred (14.78), Sean Delany (15.13) and John Wetula (15.18) all qualified in the men's 110 hurdles preliminaries.
- In the remaining women's track events, Faith Baxter got a first place finish in the women's 400 dash preliminaries with a time of 54.84. Emily Akin (2:12.75) also qualified for Miami in the women's 800 run preliminaries.
- Ryan Smith (16.13m) and Ben Riegel (15.70m) claimed points for the RedHawks in the men's shot put with fourth and sixth place finishes.
- The women's heptathlon came to a close, with Lisa Froberg and Kayla Walters earning points in the final standings.
