RedHawks Compete at Day One of Penn Relays

PHILADELPHIA, Penn. — The Miami women's and men's track and field teams competed in the first day of the Penn Relays on Thursday. Miami fared well against tough competition.

The RedHawks continue their stint at the Penn Relays Friday, April 29.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- In a day filled mostly with distance events, the 3000-meter steeplechase showed good results for both the men and women. Carmen Riano took second in the event finishing with a time of 10:04.84. Teammate Katie Vitou was not far behind as she finished in sixth place with a time of 10:13.02. On the men's side, Charlie Harders was the top RedHawk capturing seventh place with a time of 8:55.26. Obsaa Feda was right behind him placing eighth with a time of 8:58.70.
- Ava Nuttall had a successful day finishing third in the 10,000-meter run. She finished with a time of 34:03.42 against 20 competitors.
- In the field, Ella Rigel finished 13th in the hammer throw with a 50.76-meter throw. Ryan Smith captured seventh place in the same event with a throw of 58.27-meters, which is a new season best.
The RedHawks continue their stint at the Penn Relays Friday, April 29.
