RedHawks Capture First at Cherry Blossom Invitational

ATHENS, Ohio— The RedHawks had a great performance at the Cherry Blossom Invitational at Ohio University on Saturday. The men's and women's track and field teams placed first. The men scored 215 points and the women scored 206 points for the day.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The RedHawks continue their outdoor season at the Indiana Invitational in Bloomington, Ind. on Friday, April 22.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Miami had many first-place finishes on the day. In the sprinting events, Alanah Owens finished first in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.48. Julian Wagner also captured first in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.16. In the 100-meter hurdles, Kayla Walters placed first with a time of 15.18.
- Other first-place finishes include Leo Bouldin in the 200-meter dash (22.45), Luke Finnegan in the 400-meter dash (48.42), Ane Erasmus in the 400-meter hurdles (1:01.78), and Victor Orsinelli in the 3000-meter race (8:43.36).
- The 4x400-meter relays teams for both the men and women had great performances. The men's squad of John Wetula, Eman Alfred, Jacob Matthews, and Sam Pearl placed second with a time of 3:26.35. The women's squad of Faith Baxter, Lucca Agate, Marta Cepeda Perez, and Gabby Cossio finished second with a time of 3:49.12.
- In the field, Dawson Wervey and Taylor Manley had impressive jumps. Wervey placed first in the long jump (6.14m) and triple jump (12.89m). Manley finished first in the long jump (5.51m) and the triple jump (11.94m) as well. Ben Riegel captured first-place in the shot put with a throw of 15.28-meters and Zachary Curiale placed first in the hammer throw with a 52.22-meter throw.
