RedHawks in First After Day One of MAC Men's Swimming Championships

The Miami University Men's Swimming and Diving team found themselves tied for first after the first day of the Mid-American Conference Men's Swimming and Diving Championships on Wednesday, March 2, at Southern Illinois University. A pair of solid relay performances allowed the RedHawks to earn 74 points, putting them next to Missouri State University in the top placement.

The night's finals kicked off with the 200 medley relay. The Miami relay team of Cole Grosshans, Adrian Dulay, Henju Duvenhage and Ben Chatwin set a pool record while taking first with a combined time of 1:26.39. Contributing to the win were splits of 22.03 from Grosshans, 24.90 from Dulay, 20.22 from Duvenhage and 19.24 from Chatwin.

In the second relay event of the night, the 800 freestyle relay, the RedHawks placed second. UrošÂ Djokovic, Duvenhage, Jack Herczeg and Nic Wamsley worked to pick up a combined time of 6:30.70 with splits of 1:37.93 from Djokovic, 1:37.31 from Duvenhage, 1:37.60 from Djokovic and 1:37.86 from Wamsley.

Miami continues through the championships with the second day of competition Thursday, March 3. Events will include the 500 freestyle, the 200 individual medley, the 50 freestyle, the one meter diving and the 200 freestyle relay.
