ON TAP: The Miami University women's basketball team hosts Central Michigan on Saturday, Feb. 12 at 1 p.m. Saturday's contests in the first of three Miami Athletic events as part of One Miami Weekend.
HUNGRY LIKE A WOLF: Over her past four games, freshman Ivy Wolf is averaging 15.8 points, while shooting 45.3% (24-53) from the floor and 45.0% (9-20) from behind the arc. Wolf had 20 points back on Feb. 2 versus Toledo, her second 20-point performance of her career.
MOVIN' ON UP: With 25 points versus Toledo on Wednesday, junior guard Peyton Scott moved up to 12th all-time at Miami with 1,294 career points. She is just 55 points shy of cracking the top-10 in Miami school history.
REDHAWKS FALL TO FIRST-PLACE TOLEDO: Â Peyton Scott scored a game-high 25 points, but first-place Toledo defeated the Miami women's basketball team 86-63 at Millett Hall Wednesday. Ivy Wolf added 14 points for the RedHawks.
TAKE CARE: Â In Miami's first 17 games they averaged 19.6 turnovers per contest and had a season-low of 14 turnovers two different times. In the last four games, Miami has committed just 46 total turnovers (10.5/game), establishing season bests in back-to-back games (had 11 at Toledo and 6 at WMU). The backcourt duo of Peyton Scott (6) and Ivy Wolf (5) have committed just 11 total turnovers in a combined 260 minutes over the past four contests.
BALANCING ACT: While Peyton Scott (19.0) is getting a majority of the offensive attention, Miami has a total of eight players averaging at least 3.7 points per game this season. Last year, just four RedHawks averaged over 4.0 points per game.
NEW FACES, NEW PLACES: Miami has six additions to the RedHawks in 2021-22 that are contributing numbers to Miami's success. In all, Ivy Wolf, Maddi Cluse, Edyn Battle, Tajah Foster-Walker, Jordan Tuff and Katey Richason are combining for 35.7 points and 18.1 rebounds per game.
ABOUT CENTRAL MICHIGAN: The Chippewas are 4-18 on the year and 2-11 in MAC play, which includes four-straight conference losses. Molly Davis is tops on the team at 18.9 points per game, while Jahari Smith averages a double-double (12.2 ppg., 10.6 rpg.).
SERIES WITH THE CHIPPEWAS: This will be the 69th meeting between the two schools with CMU holding a slight 36-32 all-time advantage. CMU has won 14 of the last 15 contests.
ROUND TWO VERSUS CMU: These two teams competed back on Jan. 26, with CMU picking up a 70-59 victory in Mount Pleasant. Peyton Scott led the RedHawks with 23 points, while Edyn Battle chipped in with 10.
LIKE A FINE WINE: No easy way to put it, but the RedHawks have struggled offensively in the first half this season, averaging 28.5 points in the first 20 minutes of action. As the game goes on, the offense improves. The RedHawks average 38.5 points per game in the second half and have outscored their opponents 430-402 in the fourth quarter.
GREAT SCOTT: Junior guard Peyton Scott has accomplished a ton since arriving in Oxford, all while maintaining a 3.73 grade-point average and majoring in sports leadership and management.
