Collegiate Team Places Second at Porter Classic

ANN ARBOR, Mich.—With a clean skate, the Miami University collegiate synchronized skating team notched a second-place finish among a 10-team field at the Porter Classic on Sunday afternoon. Miami accrued a season-high score of 97.91 and finished a mere 1.41 points out of first.

The RedHawk senior team returns to competition, traveling to Salzburg, Austria for the Mozart Cup Jan. 20-21. Miami's collegiate team returns to competition the following weekend at the Midwestern Championships in Rockford, Ill., on Jan. 28.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The RedHawks earned a score of 97.91, earning 50.03 for executed elements and 47.88 for program components.
- It was a season-best score for the RedHawk collegiate team, who bettered their previous score for the program by 8.39 points.
- Michigan placed first with a score of 99.32, while Miami bested third-place Western Michigan (83.58) by more than 14 points.
- Adrian (76.03), Trine (70.05), Michigan State (69.41), Delaware (67.69), Illinois (55.87), Boston College (53.73) and Notre Dame (52.84) rounded out fourth through 10th, respectively.
