Collegiate Team Opens Season with Win at Kickoff Classic

KALAMAZOO, Mich.—Picking up where it left off last season, the Miami University collegiate synchronized skating program captured first among a seven-team field at the Kalamazoo Kickoff Classic on Saturday afternoon. It was the season-opening competition for the RedHawk collegiate team, who collected their sixth-straight first-place finish dating back to their season-opening competition in 2021-22 at the Diamond Classic.

Both the RedHawk senior and collegiate teams return to the ice at the Dr. Porter Classic Dec. 3-5.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The RedHawks amassed a score of 89.52, earning 46.13 for executed elements and 44.39 for program components with one deduction.
- Miami bested second-place Trine (84.09) by more than five points and third-place Michigan (82.57) by nearly seven points.
- Western Michigan (82.13), Adrian College (77.16), Michigan State (72.96) and Illinois (58.35) rounded out fourth through seventh, respectively.
