RedHawks Play to 1-1 Tie With Colorado College

OXFORD, Ohio — The Miami University hockey team battled Colorado College to a 1-1 tie Friday night at Steve "Coach" Cady Arena. The RedHawks (4-5-2, 0-4-1 NCHC) got a shorthanded goal from Red Savage in the second period and Ludvig Persson made 35 saves in net to hold CC (4-6-1, 1-1-1 NCHC) to a single goal in 65 minutes of action. The visitors earned the extra point in the NCHC standings with a shootout win, as the Tigers' Ryan Beck was the only player to convert.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- 6:37 2nd (Miami 1-0) | The RedHawks struck first with a second-period goal from Savage during a Colorado College power play. Savage knocked the puck away from the Tigers toward Matthew Barbolini, who then flipped the puck ahead for a Savage breakaway to put Miami up 1-0.
- 13:31 2nd (Colorado College 1-1) | A quick response came from the Tigers, who tied it up on the game's next power play. Nicklas Andrews brought the puck toward the RedHawks' zone along the boards, passing up to Stanley Cooley and then getting a return pass. Andrews dropped the puck off to Matthew Gleason, who knocked in the equalizer.
GAME NOTES:
- The RedHawks did not allow a shot on goal in the first 10 minutes of the game.
- CC was 1-4 on the power play, while Miami finished 0-5.
- The RedHawks blocked 19 shots to the Tigers' 14, with Dylan Moulton blocking four to lead the Red and White.
- Savage's goal was his fourth of the season, with half of those coming shorthanded.
- Persson and Savage were named First and Second Stars of the Game, respectively.
