Miami Ties Eastern Michigan 2-2 To Close Out Regular Season

OXFORD, Ohio – On Thursday afternoon, the Miami University's women's soccer team (8-4-6, 4-2-5 MAC) tied Eastern Michigan University (3-11-4, 2-7-2 MAC) 2-2 in the final regular season game of the Mid-American Conference season.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED: 
  • Within the first 40 seconds, senior Emily Sexton drew a penalty with a run into the Eastern Michigan penalty box. The penalty attempt by junior Camber Hayes was parried but sophomore Mercedes Schroer slotted the follow-up past the goalkeeper, 1-0 Miami.
  • With five minutes until half-time, Eastern Michigan equalized, 1-1.
  • At the 55th minute mark, freshman Norah Roush launched the ball over the opposition's defense for sophomore Makenna Morrison. Morrison dribbled past an Eastern Michigan defender and aimed for the top right corner but missed.
  • Three minutes later, Morrison drew another penalty for the Miami RedHawks. Redshirt junior Madeline Schlecht converted from the spot to put Miami 2-1 up.
  • At the 82nd minute, Eastern Michigan scored off a corner to tie the game at 2-2.
 
NOTES:
  • Senior Izzie Vaccari added six saves in this match.
  • Three Miami players tied for a game-high four shots, with all four attempted by junior Taylor Hamlett being on target.
 
UP NEXT:
The RedHawks concludes their regular season campaign and will enter the MAC Tournament as No. 5. In the first round, they will pay a visit to No. 4 Ohio University on Sunday, Oct. 30 at 1 p.m.
