RedHawks Shutout Michigan State, 2-0

ST LANSING, Mich. – On Sunday afternoon the Miami University field hockey team defeated Michigan State University 2-0. The win brings the RedHawks to 10-6 on the season. The loss drops the Spartans to 8-8 on the season.

The RedHawks face Ball State University next Friday, Oct. 28 at 1 p.m. in Muncie Ind.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- After a back-and-forth first quarter the game remained tied at 0-0.
- The tie score continued throughout the second quarter and the first half concluded with a 0-0 score.
- At this point in the game the RedHawks were outshooting the Spartans 4-3.
- Just under ten minutes into the third quarter, Luli Rosso scored, giving the RedHawks a 1-0 lead. She was assisted by Jenna Kirby. This was Rosso's fourth goal of the season, which is a career high.
- The RedHawks held their 1-0 lead through the end of the quarter.
- During a penalty corner, just over two minutes into the fourth quarter, Lilly Petersen scored the first goal of her career at Miami, giving the RedHawks a 2-0 lead.
- The RedHawks held the 2-0 lead and defeated the Spartans in their second consecutive shutout.
