
RedHawks Come Up Short at BGSU, 17-13

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Miami University football team dropped a 17-13 decision on Saturday afternoon to Bowling Green. The RedHawks (3-4, 1-2 MAC) managed 98 yards on the ground, while the Falcons (3-4, 2-1 MAC) had 176 yards on 44 carries. Michael Dowell was tops on the team with 17 tackles, while Ryan McWood added 11 stops and two tackles for loss as the RedHawks held BGSU to 149 yards passing.

How it Happened:
- Graham Nicholson gave Miami a 3-0 lead on the opening possession of the game, drilling a 41-yard field goal into a stiff breeze.
- A Bowling Green 1-yard touchdown run capped off a 10-play 61-yard drive to spot the Falcons their first lead of the game, 7-3 with 7:13 to play in the first half.
- Late in the first half, Miami's defense forced a three-and-out to set up the RedKawks at the BGSU 43-yard line. Less than a minute later, Aveon Smith connected with junior Miles Marshall on a 19-yard touchdown with 31 seconds remaining. Marshall's first career touchdown gave the RedHawks a 10-7 advantage.
- Dominic Nardone stripped the ball from the BG kick returner and Nolan Johnson jumped on the recovery to begin the second half. Four plays later, Nicholson connected on a 39-yard field goal to push Miami's advantage to 13-7.
- Bowling Green made it 13-10 after a 22-yard field goal with 4:44 left in the third and the Falcons missed a 31-yard field goal to begin the final stanza.
- The Falcons reclaimed a 17-13 lead following a 19-yard touchdown run with 11:31 to play.

- Yahsyn McKee recorded his second career interception as a RedHawk.
- Michael Dowell had a career-high 17 tackles.
