RedHawks Fall at Cincinnati, 49-14

CINCINNATI, Ohio – The Miami University football team dropped a 49-14 decision to the Cincinnati Bearcats on Saturday afternoon inside Nippert Stadium in Cincinnati, Ohio. It was the season opener for both squads.

How it Happened:
  • Cincinnati opened the contest scoring touchdowns on their first three drives to take an early 21-0 lead.
  • Two different RedHawk drives stalled inside Cincinnati territory in the first half as the Bearcats took a 35-0 lead into the locker room.
  • Following a muffed punt by UC midway through the third quarter the RedHawks once again marched into UC territory behind a 14-yard catch from Jack Sorenson. The drive stalled and the RedHawks once again turned the ball over on downs.
  • Miami used a strong rushing attack throughout the third quarter, led by freshmen Keyon Mozee and Kevin Davis. Mozee converted a first down at the UC 16-yard line but once again the offense could get no closer.
  • The Bearcats added 14 points in the fourth quarter.
  • In the fourth quarter Freshman Kenny Tracy and Freshman John Saunders Jr. scored their first career touchdowns.
