Track & Field Sees Action at Notre Dame

SOUTH BEND, Ind. — The RedHawks continued the 2021 outdoor track season with successful results at the Bob Harris Open at Notre Dame on Saturday.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Marija Bogavac claimed second place in the javelin finals, with a mark of 41.90 meters. Bogavac, a redshirt senior, also placed eighth in the discus (40.73 meters).
- Sarah Bruns continued her success for her senior season, placing fourth in the 100 meter hurdles (14.22 seconds). Bruns also competed on the field, placing ninth in the high jump (1.55 meters) and 10th in the shot put (10.68 meters).
- Jaime Handra was the top RedHawk in the high jump, placing fifth with a 1.60 meter mark. Grace Rigel and Sydney Jefferson were the top Miami finishers in their respective events with Rigel placing seventh in the shot put (12.99 meters) and Jefferson taking fifth in the hammer throw (50.65 meters).
- On the men's side, Ryan Smith finished in first in the discus event, claiming the top title with a mark of 50.96 meters. Smith also placed fourth in the javelin with a 57.97 meter mark, and third in the shot put (16.62 meters).
- Ben Artrip finished in third in the high jump, clearing 1.85 meters. Zachary Curiale was the top Miami finisher in the hammer throw, taking sixth with a 52.16 meter toss.
WHAT'S NEXT:
The RedHawks return home to compete at the MAC Outdoor Championships in Oxford. Day one of competition is scheduled for May 7.
