2/9/2021 10:59:00 AM | Women's Basketball
After arguably the greatest two-game stretch in Miami women's basketball history, Peyton Scott was honored by being named Mid-American Conference Player of the Week. It was the first time in her career she has won this award.
Â
The sophomore averaged 35.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 4.5 steals per contest. She shot 61.4 percent (27-44) from the floor as was 15-of-16 (93.8%) from the free throw line. Her 71 points scored is believed to be the most of any Miami basketball player in school history in a two-game span. Courtney Osborn also scored 71 back on Jan. 4 and Jan. 7, 2012 and Wally Szczerbiak scored 67 points in a two-game stretch during the 1998-99 NCAA Tournament run.
Â
Scott began the week scoring a career-high 37 points versus Western Michigan while adding 10 rebounds, helping the Red and White to a 73-64 win. She followed that up with a 34-point performance in a two-point loss at MAC leading Kent State.
Â
Scott and the RedHawks host Central Michigan on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.
