Swimming Competes at Day One of Last Chance Meet

OXFORD, Ohio — The Miami University swimming and diving team continued their 2021 season with the Last Chance Meet held at the Nixon Aquatic Center. On day one, the RedHawks dominated multiple events to start the multi-day meet on a high note.
How it Happened:
- Nicole Maier, Rachel Botting, Honor Brodie-Foy, and Camila Lins De Mello got the top time in the women's 200-yard freestyle relay, finishing in a time of 1:32.91. On the men's side of the same event, Mason Miller, Henju Duvenhage, Spencer Klinsky, and Ben Chatwin placed second with a time of 1:22.02.
- Maier earned an individual win on the day, capturing the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:45.20, 23 seconds ahead of the second-place finisher. Neal Wolfram took the title in the men's 500 freestyle, with a time of 4:28.26.
- Lins de Mello finished first in the 200 IM event (2:01.99), and Anna Martin followed just three seconds after (2:04.24). Duvenhage claimed top honors in the men's 200 IM, with a time of 1:48.16.
- Brodie-Foy claimed top honors in the 50 freestyle, finishing in 23.34.
- Lins de Mello, Sara Lahrach-Sanchez, Kayleigh Cannon, and Brodie-Foy returned to the pool for the 400-yard medley relay to close day one, where they finished in first, clocking in with a time of 3:44.57.

Miami returns to the pool for day two of the Last Chance Meet on Saturday, Feb. 27. The first event is scheduled for 9 a.m. in Oxford.
