RedHawks See Success at Last Chance Meet

OXFORD, Ohio — The Miami University swimming and diving team continued their 2021 season with the Last Chance Meet held at the Nixon Aquatic Center. On day two, the RedHawks continued to add on to their day one success with multiple event wins to end the meet on a high note.
How it Happened:
- Camila Lins De Mello, Sam Sutton, Kayleigh Cannon, and Honor Brodie-Foy got the top time in the women's 200-yard medley relay, finishing in 1:42.14. On the men's side of the same event, Owen Blazer, Noah Barr, Spencer Klinsky, and Ben Chatwin placed second with a time of 1:27.08.
- Cannon earned an individual win on the day, capturing the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 53.58, ahead of the second-place finisher Emily O'Connell. Nicole Maier took the title in the women's 400 IM, with a time of 4:17.40.
- Lins de Mello finished first in the 200 freestyle event (1:49.25), and Bryanna Renuart followed just four seconds after (1:53.51). Sutton claimed top honors in the women's 100 breaststoke, with a time of 1:03.13.
- Henju Duvenhage claimed top honors in the 400 IM time trial, finishing in 3:58.40. Neal Wolfram continued his day one success, and took second in the 1650-yard freestyle with a time of 15:33.16.
- Braelyn Binkowski won the 200 backstoke, with a time of 2:02.49. Lins de Mello added another individual title to her day, finishing in 50.42 in the 100 freestyle.
- Maier, Botting, Lins de Mello and Brodie-Foy returned to the pool for the 400-yard freestyle relay to close day two, where they finished in first, clocking in with a time of 3:23.99. Duvenhage, Cole Grosshans, Nic Wamsley, and Chatwin finished in first in the same event with a time of 2:59.19.
Up Next:
Miami returns to the pool for a meet against Ball State on March 6. The meet is scheduled for a 2 p.m. start at Nixon Aquatic Center.
