RedHawks Open Season With 85-60 Win at Valpo

Valparaiso, Ind. – Ivy Wolf and Peyton Scott combined to score 41 points as the Miami University women's basketball team opened the season with an 85-60 win on the road at Valparaiso. The RedHawks (1-0) outrebounded the Crusaders (0-1) 44-19.
In all, four different RedHawks finished the contest in double figures. Wolf had 23, while Scott (18), Jada Duckett (12) and Amani Freeman (10) also scored 10-plus points. Tajah Foster-Walker had a game-high 11 rebounds, while Duckett finished with 10 as she secured her first double-double of her career.
Miami finished the contest shooting 51.4% from the floor and forced 20 Valpo turnovers.

Seven different players that were not with the RedHawks last season played in the season opener and five of those players contributed to the scoresheet. In all, the newcomers combined to score 45 points.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Freshman Ivy Wolf opened her career with a bang, scoring 11 points in the first quarter, connecting on three triples as the RedHawks established a 23-14 lead after 10 minutes of play.
- A pair of free throws from Amani Freeman gave the RedHawks a 44-23 advantage with one minute to play in the first half. Valpo answered with a three-pointer from the corner, but back-to-back pull-up jumpers from Scott to close out the half gave the Red and White a 48-26 advantage.
- Miami used a 12-0 run early in the third quarter to claim a 62-29 advantage and the RedHawks led 69-36 after three quarters of play.
